Ever wondered where you could find nearby Makan places when you visit us at Lifesystems Chiropractic? Let me share the five eateries that I usually go during lunch. They should take you no more than 10 minutes on foot.

As of October 2019, there are FIVE eateries within 10 minutes of walking distance. I will list them from the nearest to the furthest.

House of Fatty Bom Bom (3 min walk | Directions)
Newly opened sometime in September 2019, Fatty Bom Bom eatery is located just behind Cycle and Carriage and claims to open from 7 am to 11 pm!
Address: 24 Leng Kee Rd #01-05 S(159096).
Their food selection includes Halal Western Food, Fishball Noodle, Laksa, chicken rice, mixed rice, noodle shop, coffee shop
Recommendation: As of this writing, I have tried their Minced Meat Noodle (3/5★), Laksa (3/5★), Mixed rice (3.5/5★) and coffee or Kopi Si (3.0/5★). I have not tried the Western and probably won't as they use Planta margarine a toxic trans fat.

Thye Hong Center Canteen (3 min walk | Directions)
Located just behind the bus stop as SIS building, the canteen is at Level 6, very spacious and plenty of seating capacity but not air-conditioned. If you are old enough, you might remember eating biscuits from Thye Hong Biscuit Factory. Now it's an office building. The food there is nothing spectacular. It's been around since forever, and I have tried them all!
Address: 2, Leng Kee Rd, Level 6, S(159086)

Ban Mian Noodle Store: Recently opened on Sept 2019, it satisfies those with a craving for a soupy meal. Minced pork is rather fresh, with decent vegetable noodles cooked to al dente, but feels slightly undercooked for my digestion. (3.5/5★)

Muslim Food Store: They serve Nasi Padang style food as such Sayoh Lodeh, Curry, and Beef Rendang. Depend on their schedule; they also serve Mee Rebus and Mee Soto or Bee Hoon Soto if you are into less gluten. (3/5★)

Chinese Mixed Rice Store: Seller is an older auntie with a decent variety and food taste decent. Fried fish sometimes not very fresh. Her watercress soup served in stainless steel bowl is recommended. (3/5★)

Chicken Rice Store: A couple runs the store in the middle of the canteen. The wife has noticeable scoliosis. (Sorry I can't help it). You get a decent amount for $3. The soup is herbal with Dong Guai rather than regular chicken broth. They also have Wonton noodles with Char Siew and Shui Jiao Dumpling Noodles. (3/5★)

The Living Room @ Leng Kee (5 min walk | Directions)
Located inside of Leng Kee Community Club, its an air-conditioned cafe serving local foods. If you walk from our office, it will be right behind the Chinese Temple on Leng Kee Rd. Generally, expect higher food prices as the prawn mee is about $6. They also sell Mee Siam and Nasi Lemak ($3.80). You also get free Wifi via Wireless SG if you sit in the correct area. (3.5/5★)
Address: 400 Lengkok Bahru, #01-01, Singapore 159049.

Koufu Food Court @ Dawson Place Mall (9 min walk | Directions)
This mall has a small NTUC FairPrice to do your groceries, three hardware stores, bakery, medical clinic and foot massage. It's my least favourite place to go simply because the food there is not great. Can not make it in my opinion, but ok if you want to sit in an air-conditioned room. (2/5★)
Address: 57 Dawson Rd, Singapore 142057

Redhill Food Centre (10 min walk | Directions)
Many delicious food choices if you love hawker food. If you are driving, finding a carpark next to the centre during lunch peak hours will prove to try your patience.
Address: 85 Redhill Ln, S(150085).

Hua Kee Chicken Rice has tender steam chicken and generous cucumber. Cucumber's the only fibre you get with this dish. What I dislike is the use of MSG or monosodium glutamate in their cooking. I saw a delivery man handing over a sack of Ajinomoto when I was ordering chicken rice. Also, Hua Kee store is often closed even during their regular hours. (4/5★)

Ruyi Vegetarian Bee Hoon is at a newly renovated coffee shop next to the the food center. They have been around since I was a kid. I like the Kuay Teow too due but stick to the Bee Hoon if you are trying for the first time. One of the better vegetarian Bee Hoon I have ever eaten. (4/5★)
