Spinal Decompression Therapy

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression is very effective at treating bulging discs, herniated discs, pinched nerves, sciatica, radiating arm pain, degenerative disc disease, leg pain, and facet syndromes. Although many individuals can benefit from spinal decompression therapy, a full consultation and examination will help determine if spinal decompression may be effective for you.

What Is It

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy at Lifesystems Chiropractic is a pain-free, non-invasive, drug-free alternative that has shown a high rate of success at reducing or even eliminating any back or neck pain caused in whole or in part by a damaged disc. It offers relief of lower back pain, sciatica pain, neck pain, bulging or degenerative disc disease, and facet pain.

We use a revolutionary new technology decompression machine that allows the patient to be placed in the most comfortable position whether it be prone (faced down), supine (faced up), hip tilted or straight and includes Whole body Vibration (WBV). WBV when combined with the decompression, fatigues or softens muscles up to 50% quicker than using decompression alone. Decompression, combined with WBV, pulls fluids into the discs more rapidly. It allows spasmed muscles to relax and prevent future muscle spasms to occur.

How It Works

Spinal Decompression Therapy machine gently stretches and relaxes the spine, thus diminishing or eliminating nerve compression, while at the same time promoting blood flow and, therefore, nutrition and oxygen intake into the discs and removal of metabolic waste products. In healthy discs, the intake of nutrition occurs naturally with daily motions and body positions. A disc with poor intake, fewer nutrients, and less hydration, is more likely to become injured and painful. Spinal decompression may be use together with chiropractic to attain better longer lasting results.

Spinal Decompression Therapy FAQ

How does the therapy feel like?

Patients are placed on a machine, which is programmed by the practitioner to apply pull, hold and release pressure focused on degenerated, herniated or bulging discs. Unlike conventional traction, Spinal Decompression Therapy applies a very gently and gradual pressure.  Together with Whole Body Vibration, the treatment is so comfortable most patient fall asleep during the treatment.

How Long Will It Take and get Pain Relief?

In most cases patients have been suffering with their injury for a period of time. Depending on how severe your condition is some patients can fully recover in as few as 6 – 10 visits, however more complex cases may require more visits. Patients should maintain the treatment schedule recommended by the practitioner to ensure full recovery.
